Independent Reading Assignment

Accelerated Reader List for “Risk & Consequences” Unit

 

Choose any of the Accelerated Reader books that you have not already read (or have had read to you) in a class or at home. You have 2—3 weeks to fully read the novels totally on your own. (This is not reading that you do with your parents. You must read every word on your own.)  Decide how many chapters you need to read each day to complete the novel and read at least that many chapters each day. You will be required to bring in a note signed by your parents confirming that you met your weekly reading goal.  After you finish reading the book, take the Accelerated Reader test in class.*  Points are awarded according to length of the book and your level of comprehension.

*(a simple, multiple choice test which is usually no longer than 10 questions for average length books)

After the title and author, you'll find the "grade level" and point count.

                 Yes! I am aware of the novel my child has chosen. I think the novel and the number of pages he/she has agreed to read is reasonable for his/her reading level. I understand that my child is responsible to log the number of pages read each week and have me sign the log, confirming that the reading was done. I’m also aware that this reading must be totally and completely done by my child with no help from anyone else.
