Criteria for a Good Friendly Letter to Your Docent
| 1. | Letter is written in the FRIENDLY LETTER FORMAT. Check to see that header, greeting, body, close are properly lined up. |
| 2. | Handwriting is legible, neat and written in pen (black ink). |
| 3. | There are at least 3 paragraphs. The first states that you enjoyed the field trip and that you appreciated his/her information and guidance. The second paragraph needs to give at least 2 things you especially enjoyed about the trip. The third paragraph again thanks the docent for his/her help. This paragraph might be one good, long. |
| 4. | The content is clear and the spelling, punctuation and grammar are correct. |
Assessment Rubric of the Docent Letter
| 4--Advanced | The letter follows all the guidelines in the Criteria and, in addition, advanced, descriptive and above-grade level vocabulary is used. Not only are the sentences complete, correct and well-constructed, they are interesting and give evidence of the writer's voice. |
| 3--Grade Level | The letter follows all, or most, of the guidelines listed in the Criteria. There are few or no mistakes. |
| 2--Developing | The letter has problems in format style or in content. |
| 1--Below Grade Level | The letter has many problems, or work is incomplete or missing. |
